ATTRACTING INVESTMENTS IS A PRIORITY ACTIVITY OF THE PI MSIF MANAGEMENT

Today, August 26, 2020, the team of the Public Institution "Moldova Social Investment Fund" (PI MSIF) had a meeting with Mr. Constantin Codreanu, the Member of the Romanian Parliament, the Chairman of the Commission for Romanian communities abroad.

The discussion has been focused on results obtained by the PI MSIF in the implementation of the Technical and Financial Assistance Program provided by the Government of Romania for preschool institutions in the Republic of Moldova. "The Public Institution " Moldova Social Investment Fund" as an entity responsible for preparing, implementing, ensuring visibility and reporting of the Technical and Financial Assistance Program provided by the Government of Romania for preschool institutions in the Republic of Moldova during the period 2014-2020 (to date) managed implementation of about 1200 subprojects for renovation and/or equipping of kindergartens with a total cost of 29 million euros. As a result of the Grant offered by the Romanian Government, about 120,000 preschool children benefit from better conditions in their kindergartens, these being thermally insulated, repaired inside and outside, equipped with heating systems, water and sewerage systems, with new roofs with furniture, playgrounds and pavilions. At the same time, needs for renovation and endowment of preschool institutions in different rural and urban localities remain high. In this context, the prospect of obtaining new tranches of funding from the Romanian Government is an opportunity that would contribute significantly to creating improved conditions for early childhood education. At the moment, the PI MSIF has registered over 400 funding requests from local public administrations and other public institutions", said the Director of the PI MSIF, Iurie Chiorescu.

In his turn, Mr. Constantin Codreanu highly appreciated results obtained in the process of capitalizing the grant offered by the Romanian Government for the renovation of kindergartens in the country, remained interested in Fund's procedures related to social and technical evaluation of subprojects, community involvement in the decision-making process and monitoring and ensuring the sustainability of renovated sites.

At the end of the discussion, a collaboration was proposed in mapping needs for social infrastructure rehabilitation in order to attract investments and implement new projects.
