Moldova Social Investment Fund inaugurated kindergarten in the Balatina village, Glodeni rayon, renovated from funds allocated Governments of Romania and Germany

The Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau, Daniel Ionita, together with the Executive Manager of the Moldova Social Investment Fund (MSIF), Mircea Esanu, attended the inauguration of the nursery-kindergarten no 2. In Balatina village, Glodeni rayon. The event was also attended by the Consul General of Romania in Balti, Mihail Baciu, the Chairman of the Glodeni Rayon Counsil, Ion Leuca, the Mayor of the Balatina village, Dumitru Iatuc, parents, children and staff members of the preschool institution.

 

 

For the first time an innovative funding formula was used to renovate kindergarten in Balatina village. The preschool institution was renovated with funds from both the grant, allocated by the Romanian Government, and those funds, allocated by the German Government through KfW German Development Bank. Both projects are managed by MSIF.

 

 

Romanian Ambassador Daniel Ionita, said: "Romania was, is and will be close to Moldova. By everything we do, together with the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, we want to contribute for the improvement of  your living conditions, of citizens who live here. Inauguration of a kindergarten, which could be possible by a contribution from both, from Germany and from Romania, is an important message for the future. And our children are the future. If we can provide our children with an appropriate education, it will be good for all. We want to continue this successful program in the future, so that more children to enjoy modern kindergartens and better conditions."

 

 

Mircea Eşanu, Executive Manager of the MSIF,thanked foreign partners, the Romanian Government and the German Government, local authorities and other partners for the contribution to the renovation of kindergartens. "The kindergarten in the Balatina village is a double success for MSIF. We managed both funds, provided by the Romanian Government and that offered by the German Government. It is an example of work done from the beginning to the end. For the local community, a functional kindergarten does not mean just the safety for children, jobs for kindergarten teachers, but also an opportunity for parents to get a job."

 

Currently, the kindergarten in the Balatina village is attended by 94 children. The roof and cornices were replaced in the kindergarten for funds from the Romanian grant, and major repairs that included renovations inside and outside, thermal insulation of the building, the construction of the water supply and sewer systems, construction and arrangement of sanitary facilities, and installation of heating system were carried out for funds from the German grant. The total investment allocated by the Government of Romania, the German Government and local authorities exceeds 1,400,000 lei.

 

 

Information about project

Romanian Government has allocated 23 million euro for the renovation and equipping kindergartens in the Republic of Moldova through the "Program of technical and financial assistance provided by the Government of Romania for preschool institutions in the Republic of Moldova", for which 832 kindergartens were renovated. In 2016, the Romanian Government has allocated additional 3 million euro, for which another 85 kindergartens will be renovated.

 

Germany allocated its funds within the framework of the "Social Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency" Project, implemented by MSIF with the support of German KfW Bank. Earlier, MSIF has implemented 89 social infrastructure subprojects with energy efficient technologies within the framework of the same Project.

 

 

MSIF is an institution created by the World Bank and donor countries in order to contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova by managing external assistance.
