German architect Ludwig Rongen, expert in the "Social Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency" Project, implemented by the MSIF with the support of German KfW Bank, made a working visit to the site  of the kindergarten in the town of Calarasi, being built according to the  passive house concept. Accompanied by the Executive Manager of MSIF and the mayor of the town, the expert checked the quality of works carried out and talked to engineers and construction company representatives.

German expert Ludwig Rongen was pleased with the work already done, noting that the kindergarten in Calarasi is a model even for Europe.

Ludwig Rongen: "I am very pleased with works carried out. All partners have been responsible and worked according to the plan. From the very beginning we had good cooperation with all partners, including local authorities and the Mayor, and the result of it is a very high quality of works carried out."

German architect also mentioned about the collaboration that he has with the MSIF.

"With MSIF is very easy to collaborate. Every time we needed plans, sketches or pictures, I received them in time. In case it was so easy to work with local partners everywhere, we would be most happy. The work is performed in a very transparent way, without hiding anything. If we see that they had made a mistake we can fix it in time. I would like to thank Mircea Eşanu who always supported u,s and this is a great assistance for the successful implementation of the project," said the German expert, Ludwig Rongen.

Mircea Esanu, the Executive Manager of the MSIF, said that works have been completed for 50%, and that neighbourhood improvement and equipping of the institution with all necessary things will follow after.

" The appreciation of the German partner is very important for me personally and for the team I lead. With this project we want to demonstrate the professionalism and the transparency in the external funds management. It is important that a new kindergarten to appear in Calarasi, in which at least 80 children will enjoy very good conditions. In addition, very few kindergartens are built in Moldova. We would like that local designers and companies learn this technology through experience, not just from manuals. We hope a lot that this kindergarten will be an example of technologies and energy efficiency for the whole country," said the Executive Manager of the MSIF.

The kindergarten in Calarasi will meet German standards for energy efficiency. A building constructed after the passive house standard minimizes the amount of energy used for heating - cooling and maintaining good indoor air quality by introducing alternative energy sources and thermal insulation systems.

The German donor has allocated 1 million euro for the construction of the kindergarten. According to estimates, the annual maintenance cost of the kindergarten with an area of 1100 square meters will equal to  a maintenance cost of a 3 bedroom apartment. According to the design calculations and data provided by the German designer, the average monthly maintenance cost for lighting, heating and cooling will not exceed the amount of 2000-2500 lei.

The Mayor, Nicolae Melnik, said that there are about 400 children who need to attend a preschool in Calarasi. "After the construction of the kindergarten, about 100 children will have a possibility to enjoy European conditions in a kindergarten built according to the passive house concept. Since March, when the construction work started, till now in November, everything goes according to the schedule. Windows and the roof is planned to be installed in 2-3 weeks."

The construction of the kindergarten is carried out  within the framework of the "Social Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency" Project implemented by the MSIF with the support of the German KfW Bank. Previously, the MSIF has implemented 89 social infrastructure subprojects with the application of energy efficient technologies within the framework of the same Project.
