INAUGURATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF A NEW STUDY SECTION AT THE "MIHAI EMINESCU" THEORETICAL LYCEUM IN COMRAT MUNICIPALITY, ATU GAGAUZIA

 

---------- An inauguration event of the construction site of a new study section took place today, June 19, 2020, at the Theoretical Lyceum "Mihai Eminescu" with Romanian language studing in Comrat municipality, ATU Gagauzia.

 

The Project is financed within theframe ofthe Program of technical and financial assistance granted by the Government of Romania and implemented by the Public Institution “Moldova Social Investment Fund of” (PI MSIF) in accordance with Government Decisions no. 436/2014 and no. 487/2019.

 

Together with Mrs. Irina Vlah, the Governor of ATU Gagauzia, the site was visited by the Prime Minister, Mr. Ion Chicu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Daniel Ioniță, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Mr. Igor Sarov, the Deputy Director of the MSIF, Mr. Sergiu Niculita, other officials.

 

"This event is a historic one, because we are building a school, an objective of high importance and significance. It is a sign that society is returning to normal way of life. We started really thinking about future generations. We thank the Romanian people for their support in the construction of this school. I congratulate the authorities from ATU Gagauzia for their efforts in educating the society", the Prime Minister noted.

 

At the moment, 476 students study in the lyceum, and the existing section does not have necessary spaces to carry out the qualitative educational process.

 

The new study section will have several facilities that are currently missing: a gym, bathrooms, a canteen, a bathroom unit, a library, laboratories for physics, chemistry and biology lessons. At the same time, within the project, modernization works of the existing section will be carried out, such as the adaptation of the bathroom units for students with special needs, the rearrangement of some administrative offices in study rooms.

 

The total cost of civil works is estimated at 20.7 million lei, 15 million lei of which is the support of the Romanian Government and 5.7 million lei were provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research from the funds of the "Moldova Education Reform Project".

 

The construction of the new section will provide better study conditions and more possibilities for more children. The study section will be put into operation at the beginning of the 2021 academic year. The institution will have a capacity for more than 700 students who will study in Romanian language.
