IMPLEMENTATION OUTLOOK OF WATER SUPPLY AND SEWERAGE PROJECTS

 

Perspectives of the collaboration on implementation of projects related to the development of safe water supply and sewerage services were addressed in online meeting organized on July 13, 2020 with the participation of the Public Institution "Moldova Social Investment Fund" team and Susanna Smets, the representative of the World Bank, the specialist in water supply and sewerage systems.

 

The discussion focused on the experience of the Investment Fund in implementing projects related to the renovation of bathroom units in educational institutions and, in particular, the procedures applied in the process of social and technical evaluation of sites in order to create access for all pupils and teachers to improved sanitation conditions by ensuring the immediate impact of the allocated investments. “The criteria for technical evaluation of the sitets take into account several important factors for the development of water supply and sewerage services, taking into consideration the situation and specifics of each site. Thus, the needs assessment focuses on aspects strictly necessary for the implementation of these projects: the water source, the sewerage system and the treatment plant", mentioned the Director of the PI MSIF, Iurie Chiorescu.

 

In her turn, Susanna Smets stressed the importance and opportunities of the "Development of water supply and sewerage services in schools and health centers" Project for the Republic of Moldova and was interested in practices of the PI MSIF in implementation of renovation projects in 17 district schools funded by the World Bank , of renovation projects in preschool institutions for funds from the grant provided by the Romanian Government and renovation of bathroom units in primary education institutions, gymnasiums and lyceums, funds for their renovation are allocated from the state budget for the second consecutive year.
