"Our earthly life, sometimes is more cool than any scenario, the pandemic… We become more creative, supportive, think and act positively, and together with the team we overcome challenges". The statement was made by Iurie Chiorescu, the Director of the Public Institution "Moldova Social Investment Fund" (PI MSIF), within the CURRENT project "A year with pandemic".
He said that year 2020 was a challenge for humanityright from the beginning.
"The pandemic, no doubt, intervened violently, affecting people's lives. Basically, from the first days of quarantine, it became clear that the way we lived so far will no longer be possible. Thus, everything related to the activity within PI MSIF, organization and subproject implementation processes in communities with the financial support from various donors and development partners, has gained a different approach. Many of activities have switched to online mode, they have been adapted to new conditions in such a way so as to contribute to the achievement of basic objectives of the Institution I run", specified the official.
Following the declaration of the State of Emergency, the PI MSIF team had to adapt to the new realities.
"The direct, real-life communication for us is the important factor in our activity, but as a consequence of the declaration of the State of Emergency the "face to face" interaction with the project beneficiaries, friends, relatives has been substantially reduced. In general, communication has become a luxury, beeing significantly restricted in conditions of the COVID-19 virus. Obviously, the usual activities have been reshaped to the new global challenges. The health of those around us, children, the family remains paramount and, based on this and taking into account restrictions established at the national level, we adapt to the temporary situation", Iurie Chiorescu mentioned.
However, according to him, the pandemic also brought some benefits.
"Our earthly life, sometimes is more cool than any scenario, the pandemic… We become more creative, supportive. We think and act positively, children are born, and we enjoy their achievements. Regarding the PI MSIF activity, with certainty, together with the team we overcome challenges”, he confessed.
With regard to lessons learned, he said that:
"Life always gives us meaningful lectures. However, the year 2020, also the beginning of 2021, highlighted in particular taking care of our health, of the family members also of those who we interact with. Thus, people perceived more deeply that they are mortal and not the other way around…”, the Director of the PI MSIF concluded.
Considering the latest statistics of the number of cases of COVID-19, worldwide, also in the country, Iurie Chiorescu considers that the fight against this ruthless virus is in full swing.
"Mankind has repeatedly overcome critical situations, we are confident that this time we will be able to return to normal life too. The concentrated scientific effort of humanity, and last but not least, our humble prayer for God's help, will bring the color, taste, smell and vigor of yesteryear", Iurie Chiorescu hopes.
