
The Theoretical Lyceum "Alexandr Pushkin" in Ungheni was renovated within the "Moldova Education Reform Project" (MERP), funded by the World Bank. Civil works were managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECR) and implemented by the Public Institution “Moldovan Social Investment Fund” (MSIF). The renovation of constituency schools is part of the MERP component on strengthening education and supports the MECR's efforts to improve studding conditions in schools across the country.

The renovation of general education institutions in the Republic of Moldova is a valuable component of the " Moldova Education Reform Project", implemented with the financial support of the World Bank. The constituency schools included in the Pproject are rebuilt, equipped and arranged from the financial sources allocated within the Project. The Theoretical Lyceum "Alexandr Pushkin" from Ungheni has undergone an extensive renovation process, the institution being allocated financial means, amounting to 5 million 500 thousand lei, for procurement of equipment, furniture, IT hardware. By reconstruction, equipping and modernization, we ensure the viability and continuity of the educational process in the Republic of Moldova, a solid support in the promotion and implementation of policies in the field of Education ”.

"Renovation works of the Theoretical Lyceum "Alexandr Pushkin" in Ungheni municipality were finalized in August last year. At the moment the site is at the final reception stage., Different types of civil works have been carried out within the project, which contributed to the modernization of the lyceum and the creation of quality study conditions for schoolchildren and teachers. In particular, the roof was built, windows and exterior doors have been changed; a whole complex of interior works has been carried out in block A: heating system, interior water supply and sewerage networks, electrical networks and electrical equipment, plastering of walls and ceilings, floors. Block B has been renovated from outside: facade, socle, back wall. The cost of civil works is 12,228,070 lei", Iurie Chiorescu, the Director of the PI "Moldova Social Investment Fund", mentioned.

The sub-project is financed based on Law no. 129 of July 7, 2017 on the ratification of the Amendment No. 2 to the Financing Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the International Development Association (World Bank), within the "Moldova Education Reform Project", managed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research and implemented by PI "Moldova Social Investment Fund".

According to MSIF data, six more constituency schools will be renovated by the start of the new school year. Investments in each school amount to about 700 thousand US dollars.
