The "Integration of children with disabilities in mainstream schools" Project. The grant provided by PHRD / World Bank

The grant in the amount of US $ 2,860,000 provided by the Government of Japan through the Fund for Policy and Human Resources Development (PHRD), managed by the World Bank, for the "Integration of children with disabilities in regular schools" Project, is intended to assist the implementation of the National Program for the Development of Inclusive Education in Moldova for 2011-2020.

 

The goal of the "Integration of children with disabilities in mainstream schools" Project is to demonstrate through pilot activities that local authorities can successfully apply national policies aimed to promote the integration of children with disabilities into mainstream schools.

 

The basic components of the Project are:

  • Component 1. Planning at raion level.
  • Demonstrative pilot subprojects

A Supervisory Board consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Protection, UNICEF, academic environment and the associative sector will be working throughout the period of the Project implementation.

 

Under Component 1, at the first stage of the implementation of the Project the Supervisory Board on the basis of expressions of interest of the districts participating in the contest will select 24 districts. Those districts will receive assistance in planning of the support to implementation of the Inclusive Education Development Programme.

 

At the second stage the Supervisory Board of the Project will select 20 district schools to implement pilot subprojects. The contest will run between district schools from those 24 rayons, previously selected.

 

Under Component 2 pilot subprojects that will fall within government policy of strengthening schools and improving quality of education will be funded.
